Mayor Peggy McFadyen
The Town of Provost extends a warm welcome to you and your family!
We are a progressive community with a population of approximately 1998 residents in town (2016 Census) and approximately 2205 (2016 Census) in the surrounding municipal district.
The area remains very active in the oil and gas industry. The community is home to a number of oilfield service companies, many of them owned and operated by local residents. The community is also supported by a large agricultural business including mixed farming which we are proud to say are multi-generation farms. We have a very active beef industry that can be seen at our local auction mart (Provost Livestock Exchange) and our two very busy meat processing businesses (Provost Packers and Bouma Meats).
Educational needs are met locally by the Provost Public School with grades from K – 12 and a separate school, St. Thomas Aquinas School with grades K – 12. Provost Preschool offers programs aimed at children ages 3 and 4 years. We are very proud to have a brand new children’s daycare center along with our Parent Link program and in home daycare facilities.
The Town Office, located at 4904 – 51 Avenue, is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our friendly staff is more than happy to assist you with all your needs.
The community of Provost offers a large number of recreational organizations and service groups. The groups are open to all and will welcome you as a participant or volunteer. For your convenience, a Community Services Resource Directory is available on-line. Contact names and telephone numbers are included.
I hope that our web site has provided you with answers to some of your questions about Provost. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call upon myself, any member of Council, the Administration or Economic Development @ 780-753-2261 or by email at: info@townofprovost.ca.
