Provost Top 10 List!

1. Check out our Butterfly Garden.

Provost is home to one of the only butterfly gardens in Alberta. Nestled in Participark- its one of the hidden Provost gems awaiting your discovery.

2. Go for a Walk.

With 3 km of paved walking trail and 184-metre indoor walking track inside Crescent Point Place, you can keep moving no matter the weather.

3. Catch a Movie

Reel Entertainment is a great place to take in one of the newest movies 6 days a week.

4. Drive down 48 Street and check out our Magnificent Elms.

48 street has a beautiful canopy of tree coverage over the street, which creates a magical effect in all seasons.

5. Stop in at Crescent Point Place.

In the summer the Pool at Crescent Point Place is always nice for a dip, and all winter you can be sure to find a hockey team to cheer on almost any night at the arena.

6. Try Frisbee Golf.

Particpark has a great frisbee golf course, so grab a disc and try it out.

7. Pop into one of our amazing Local butcher shops- well known for their Jerky and their steaks.

Provost Packers and Bouma’s Meats are renowned for their jerky and other delicious products.

8. Go Bowling

With 4 lanes, and glow bowling available the bowling alley is always a fun time

9. Swing into the Museum.

The Provost & District Museum has so many treasures to discover, and stories to tell about the history of the area it’s hard to see everything in only one visit.

10. Check out our amazing shops.

Our stores on main street and surrounding areas of downtown are fantastic to explore and shop local.

The Town boasts about their many sporting events having been sponsored here such as Provincial and Regional hockey tournaments, Provincial baseball events as well as softball. We support our figure skating group with an exciting carnival each year (March). We hold an annual drag race at the airport usually on the second weekend in August. The Provost Kinsmen annually hosts an entire weekend during Father’s Day weekend (June) with an exciting splash & smash mud race.

We have an active curling rink that holds several bonspiels (seniors, school, Ladies & mixed tournaments). Our outdoor swimming pool is very active and the Provost Piranha Swim club annually hosts a very exciting swim meet that attracts many out-of-town teams.

The community is very grateful for the annual fundraising events held such as the Firemen’s Ball & Auction and the Provost & District Fish & Game supper (February), The Provost & District Museum Pumpkin Fest (October), The Provost Music festival (which celebrated its 50th Anniversary March 27-April 1, 2022).

Other exciting events held in the community are the Chamber of Commerce parade and pancake breakfast (June). The Town and MD hosts a large community BBQ at Crescent Point Place (Splash & Smash weekend). On the second Monday in September EEOC holds their annual community awareness night.

In December the Town will be celebrating their second annual Hometown Country Christmas night (December 17, 2022). The Chamber holds their annual breakfast with Santa and the Provost Kinsmen holds their annual Christmas Party.

In 2022 the Town completed approximately 3 kms of paved walking trails that surround the sports facilities and the golf course. Our golf course is a 12-hole grass greens course with a top-notch club house that serves excellent food. During the golf season it has a Ladies night every Tuesday and Men’s night every Wednesday. They hold several golf tournaments that include the Oilmen’s, Town & Country, and Town events.

While in Provost don’t forget to stop at our two well known meat suppliers. (Provost Packers and Boumas meats), and don’t forget to visit a family-owned business that has been opened for 114 years (Home Hardware). Our downtown has been renovated with new sidewalks and paved roads. The sites are wonderful around town with beautiful trees and shrubbery, and it is beautifully covered with flowers that are placed by Communities in Bloom and the Town of Provost. It is a site to be seen.
